Boucherville, Quebec, September 17, 2018Oikos, Canada’s best-selling brand of Greek yogurt, is proud to announce the highly-anticipated launch of its first products to be certified organic.

Prepared in Canada, Inspired by the Greek Tradition

Launching in September 2018, the new Oikos Organic Greek yogurt features the brand’s delectable rich, smooth, creamy texture, prepared in Canada exclusively using organic milk from certified farms in Ontario. Available in two delicious flavours – Plain and Vanilla – it features only the best ingredients, with no artificial flavours, sweeteners, or preservatives. Like all certified organic products, Oikos Organic yogurts are made without genetically engineered ingredients.

Prepared using three times more milk than traditional yogurt, Oikos Organic products can be enjoyed on their own or as a protein-rich base for a smoothie, dip, soup or other recipe.

Organic on the Upswing

According to the Canada Organic Trade Association, the appetite for organic food and beverages is growing dramatically, with 66% of Canadian shoppers buying certified products every week. The trend shows no sign of slowing, with an impressive 83% of millennials buying an organic food or beverage item at least once a week.

“Oikos has become Canada’s leading Greek yogurt because it has always been made with quality ingredients. As Canadians increasingly add organic products to their grocery basket, we’re pleased to now offer an option that offers the delicious Oikos taste and texture they know and love, while also being certified organic,” said Alexandra Latendresse, Senior Brand Manager at Danone Canada.

Going Social

In keeping with the active, on-the-go lifestyle of Oikos’ consumer target of young professionals and baby boomers, the launch campaign for Oikos Organic will place a strong emphasis on social media, with a series of Facebook and Instagram advertisements slated to launch on September 17, 2018. The campaign places a special focus on consumers who do not regularly purchase organic products by demonstrating that the delicious, creamy Oikos Organic Greek yogurt can be easily become part of a healthy daily routine.

Advertising creative will spotlight the diverse uses of the product, driving to a variety of inspiring recipe ideas, from chilled avocado and cucumber soup to tangy apricot and pistachio frozen yogurt.

Oikos Organic Greek yogurt will be available in the organic and dairy aisles of major grocery and big-box retailers across Canada for a suggested retail price of $6.29 (625 grams).
