Product launches with no added sugar and new digital agency partnership
fuel ambitious 2020 growth plan
Boucherville, Quebec – February 19, 2020 – Plant-based pioneer Silk is whetting Canadians’ growing appetite for nutritious food and beverages with an exciting slate of product launches that will be supported by an expanded agency roster.
New Product Launches First to Market with Zero Grams of Sugar
Silk is kicking off 2020 with key additions to its leading portfolio of plant-based beverages and yogurt-style products. As consumers place ingredient labels under closer scrutiny, Silk’s product launches will focus on first-to-market options with no added sugar that build on the brand’s most successful innovations.
The new Oat Yeah Unsweetened! beverage follows the successful fall 2019 Canadian launch of the brand’s range of oat beverage products – the fastest-growing segment of the non-dairy beverage market. Silk Oat Yeah Unsweetened! contains the brand’s signature creamy taste and texture, with zero grams of sugar, and no artificial colours or flavours – the only product of its kind in Canada. The beverage will be sold in grocery and big-box stores for a suggested retail price of $4.99 (1.75L format).
Silk is also adding new unsweetened options to its industry-leading portfolio of plant-based yogurt-style products with the launch of Silk Almond Yogurt Style Plain. The product features a delicious taste, creamy texture and live and active cultures in an almond base that is free of dairy, lactose, artificial colours and flavours. The unsweetened taste of Silk Almond Yogurt Style Plain makes the product an ideal base for consumers who like to customize their yogurt bowls, or simply prefer a more natural-tasting product. Silk Almond Yogurt Style Plain is available in grocery and big-box stores for a suggested retail price of $6.99 (640gr format).
“Silk is proud to lead the way in showing Canadians that plant-based food and beverages are not only a healthy choice – they can also be delicious,” said Genevieve Bolduc, Marketing Director, Plant-Based Category at Danone Canada. “Almost half of all consumers say that low sugar or sugar-free characteristics are important when they decide on a food or beverage product, so we’re proud to introduce original products that meet that demand. Silk was founded on the principle of healthy innovation, and we have a responsibility to offer options that help people live better.”
New Agency Partner Connects Silk with Consumers
Silk is expanding its agency roster with the addition of Montreal-based web design and production firm La Grange. A specialist in creative and motion design, La Grange will help Silk revamp its Web site (drinksilk.ca) to introduce new audiences to the benefits of plant-based products. A specialist in conceiving creative experiences that stand out as much in form as in execution, La Grange will work alongside Silk’s existing agencies, including TAXI; Carl; Wavemaker and NATIONAL Public Relations.
