DANONE CANADA ANNOUNCES INAUGURAL WOMEN’S LEADERSHIP AWARDS

New Program to Recognize Outstanding HEC Montreal and Schulich School of Business Students with Cash Prize and Mentorship

Boucherville, Quebec, March 8, 2019 Danone Canada, the country’s largest consumer-facing Certified B Corporation®, is celebrating International Women’s Day by announcing the creation of its inaugural Danone Women’s Leadership Awards in partnership with the HEC Montreal Société de Relations d’affaires and the Schulich School of Business Master of Business Administration (MBA) program.

Upholding Danone Canada’s commitment to using its business as a force for good, the awards will recognize female students who demonstrate the company’s leadership principles of Creating, Opening, Driving, Empowering and being Self-aware. Winners will receive a cash prize ($2,000 for the HEC Montreal winner, and $3,000 for the Schulich School of Business winner) and a one-year mentorship with a member of Danone Canada’s senior leadership team.

Empowering women in leadership is an important priority for Danone Canada: as a Certified B Corporation®, the company has at least 50% of its management positions women and/or individuals from underrepresented populations, and gives equal average compensation for women and men in executive- and non-executive roles.

“International Women’s Day 2019 celebrates women’s achievements while spotlighting the benefits of a more gender-balanced world. This is the ideal moment to recognize emerging female leaders who, like Danone, use their leadership as a force for good,” said Natacha Gouveia, Director of Communications at Danone Canada. “As a Certified B Corporation, we believe in creating opportunities for the next generation, and look forward to mentoring two exceptional young women who could one day help carry out our mission to bring health through food to as many people as possible. We look forward to collaborating with our partners at HEC Montreal’s Société de Relations d’affaires and the Schulich School of Business, and are grateful for their support.”

Further details of each award will be announced in the coming weeks.
